Geoff Dunn

Veteran broadcast journalist Geoff Dunn returned to Ithaca and his first "love," radio, when he was named News Director of Cayuga Radio Group in June 2005. Geoff also serves as Program Director for News Talk 870 WHCU and sister station, Progressive Talk 1470-WNYY.

Dunn was in radio and television news in Ithaca for 10 years, joining WTKO and WQNY radio in 1992. Three years later, he was hired by Time Warner Cable to be News Director for its NewsCenter 7 daily television news operation. In 2002, Dunn moved to Albany as an Executive Producer for Time Warner's newly-launched 24-hour news channel, Capital News 9. In that capacity, he oversaw and coordinated coverage of Election Night, Albany's First Night Celebration, the 2004 Republican and

Todd Messer

Todd comes to the WHCU news team fresh out of Grove City College in western Pennsylvania, where he graduated in May 2008 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

Todd was born and raised in Madison, Indiana, a small town right on the Ohio River 50 miles upstream from Louisville, Kentucky. He moved to Wadsworth, Ohio, a suburb of Akron, just before attending college.

His love for radio developed during elementary school, when he would scan the AM band at night to listen to stations from all across the country.

During college, Todd worked at WSAJ FM 91.1, owned by Grove City College. There, he served one year as General Manager of Student Programming, two years as News Director, did play-by-play and color commentary for both college and high school football, and hosted a weekly Christian rock music show.

Todd thanks family, friends, teachers, and advisors who have helped and continue to help him along the crazy journey known as life.

Todd regularly hosts the WHCU Evening Newswatch and anchors the late afternoon and evening newscasts for WHCU and Cayuga Radio Group sister stations WNYY 1470, Lite Rock 97.3, and Q-Country 103.7. He also regularly hosts the WHCU Saturday Morning Newswatch.

The show features extensive local news coverage, sports, and weather updates from 6 AM until 10AM. Dave also interviews several guests each morning, focusing on local news stories and community events.

The Saturday Morning Newswatch is a unique program on Ithaca radio. Dave starts working at 4:00 AM to update news, sports, and weather. From 6:00 until 9:15 AM, the two broadcasters welcome a number of guests into the studio, and interview others by telephone to bring you a local non-political, family-friendly talk show.

The Saturday Morning Newswatch started in July, 2005 when News/Talk 870 WHCU made some major programming changes. This unique show focuses on events happening each weekend, the people who volunteer to help others, and other interesting tidbits.

CBS News begins each hour with a comprehensive look at world and national news. update of local news around :08 after the hour. Dave Vieser brings you local sports and interviews a guest or two before an expanded local newscast at the bottom of the hour. The show includes segments from Charles Osgood, a weekly Pet Patrol from the SPCA of Tompkins County, and your calls to win prizes and comment on the big news of the week.

Charles Osgood

Charles Osgood's daily news commentary broadcast, the Osgood File, has drawn one of the largest audiences of any network radio feature. Osgood was called "one of the last great broadcast writers" by his predecessor on Sunday Morning, Charles Kuralt.

The Osgood File has earned him five coveted Washington Journalism Review Best in the Business Awards, among other honors. Osgood received a 1999 Radio
 
 Mercury Award, a 1996 American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers President's Award for outstanding coverage and support of music creators, and a 1993 Marconi Radio Award.

Osgood was born on Jan. 8, 1933 in New York. He graduated from Fordham University with a B.S. degree in economics in 1954.

Osgood holds honorary doctorates from St. John's University, Stonehill College, College of St. Rose, LeMoyne College, Trinity College, the College of Mount St. Vincent, Iona College, Caldwell College, Fairleigh Dickenson University, and Franklin and Marshall College. He also holds honorary degrees from Fordham University and St. Bonaventure, and serves as a trustee for both. He is an overseer at Colby College. He is also a trustee at the School of Strings in Manhattan, which he claims would never have happened if they had heard him play.

Osgood has performed with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and has played the piano and banjo with the New York Pops and Boston Pops Orchestras.

He lives in New Jersey with his wife, Jean. They have five children. The National Father's Day Committee named him Father of the Year in 1985.

Dave Ross

After four years as a reporter at WSB in Atlanta, Dave Ross joined KIRO Radio in 1978 as a news anchor, and started hosting his own talk show in 1987 . Since then he has become known to Seattle listeners as head of the Eastlake Avenue Crusaders for Common Sense, and picks up a modest out-of-town audience as a daily commentator on the CBS Radio Network.

Since 1983 he has hosted and produced Chip Talk, a daily radio report on computers syndicated by the Associated Press. He was part of the 1995 Launch Team for C-NET and has served as Charles Osgood’s fill-in since 1992.
